The Barcelona Grand Prix reshuffled the chasing pack in the 2026 ‘Most positions gained on lap one’ table, with Arvid Lindblad jumping three places to third. Fernando Alonso still leads on +22 despite retiring after starting 22nd and being classified 19th.

The biggest change after Barcelona was Arvid Lindblad hauling himself into the podium places of the season-long lap-one recovery ranking. The RB F1 Team driver climbed from sixth to third, now on +15, continuing the theme of his year being defined by what he can claw back immediately after the lights rather than where he qualifies.
That surge matters because the top of the table is not moving, but it is not static beneath. Fernando Alonso’s lead remains intact at +22 and he still tops the ranking after round 7, even though his own Barcelona weekend underlined the unusual tension this metric can create: he started 22nd, was classified 19th and retired after 37 laps. Behind him, Carlos Sainz holds second on +19, and Lindblad’s move to third at +15 makes the gap to Sainz the next clear target rather than a distant reference point.
Barcelona also tightened up the fight around the edge of the top 10. Pierre Gasly’s rise from 11th to ninth puts him into the top 10 on +10, while Lewis Hamilton drops out. And while Charles Leclerc’s climb from seventh to fifth on +14 adds another contender for the upper positions, the counter-story is Isack Hadjar sliding three places from 18th to 21st with a -14 total — a stark contrast to his Barcelona result, where he started sixth and finished sixth yet continues to leak ground in the very part of races this ranking isolates.
| Driver | Team | Before | After | Δ | Value |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Arvid Lindblad | RB F1 Team | 6 | 3 | +3 | +15 |
| Isack Hadjar | Red Bull | 18 | 21 | -3 | -14 |
| Charles Leclerc | Ferrari | 7 | 5 | +2 | +14 |
Alonso’s +22 keeps the benchmark stable at the top, but Barcelona increased the pressure below: Lindblad’s jump to +15 and Leclerc reaching +14 pull the midfield of this ranking closer together, while Gasly’s top-10 entry shows how quickly a season total can swing when lap-one gains stack up.
